Deep Creek Ranch

Website: deepcreekranch.us/

Since 1883 the Strawn family has been active in Florida agriculture, and before that in Ohio then Illinois and originally in Pennsylvania. The first David Strawn in America bought his land from William Penn sometime around 1725. His only son continued to farm near there, then David’s descendants began our family’s westward and, later still, southerly expansion.

Today, we are owners and stewards of land in east central Florida and which we use to provide Registered Angus and South Poll cattle and hair sheep as breeding stock and for food. We have pet food as well as food for humans, all cared for in the same responsible way. We manage our property for the health of the land and forests, as well as the wildlife native to it. Osceola wild turkeys, white tail deer, fox squirrels, gopher tortoises and the other flora and fauna unique to our long leaf pine and hydric hammock habitat are cared for by the way we manage our land.

We are not certified organic but we use organic methods wherever feasible. We do not broadcast herbicides or pesticides, add hormones or routinely administer antibiotics to our animals. We consume the foods we raise, as well as provide them to others. We think living is first about health, and that means food is of primary importance. We can be no more than what we consume! It had better be healthy.

We believe in the humane treatment of the animals and plants entrusted to our care. We would never withhold medication from an animal in need, but we keep records about every animal and inform consumers of the history of any animal in which they are interested.

In the pages that accompany this, our “home” page, you will learn about our guided Osceola turkey sighting and hunting opportunities, our retail beef and lamb sales, how to get grass fed pet food from us, birding and animal sighting opportunities, and if you need help on your farm, how to hire us to help you no-till drill, plant a pasture with a Brillion rig, clear some land, put on some chicken litter, haul some livestock or whatever!
